The Blood Sweat Hope fundraising campaign raises funds for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society through Shabnam Basmani’s efforts as a member of Team in Training. She aims to compete in a Half Ironman triathalon for the cause of curing blood cancers, and raising donations in the process. A bold identity was needed that spoke both to the pumping blood of an athletic competition and the race to cure blood cancers affecting so many. Playing on the phrase,”blood, sweat, and tears”, we emphasized the blood and sweat, while instilling hope for treatments and the cure through the fundraising goals.
The logotype concurrently refers to the “blood hope” of curing blood cancers, and a better future for blood cancer victims, and the “blood sweat” of grueling training and harsh physical demands of a Half Ironman competition. The flowing blood of healthy blood cells imagines both the pumping blood of the athlete, and the goal of healthy blood returning to those stricken by blood cancers. The message portrayed throughout combines the parallel messages of the physical feat taken on for the cause and the fundraising goals to beat a terrible cancer touching many lives directly and through family and friends.
