Continuing in the theme we developed in their identity, a clean, elegant design is combined with references to the real wood focus of their furniture creations. The tree theme builds from the logo to the background of the header area, again highlighting their use of real wood instead of particle board and such materials. It also gives a hint of greenness to the company through it’s use of a renewable natural resource and eschewing the use of manufactured materials like particle board. Particle Board is filled with chemical binders and formaldehyde resins, which consequently also continue to outgas noxious fumes throughout their lifetime.
Wood ‘sample chips’ are used to give a real wood, tactile feel to the site, while serving as a visual navigation aid. Each section has a specific wood representing it, with the name burned into it, as per wood burning techniques. This visual theme continues through the site and at head of each section to ensure visual consistency and an unconscious visual navigation and organization.
A dynamic design restructures the typical linear structure of horizontal stratification common among websites, giving a unique and refreshing look and feel. Open design and good use of space helps create an elegance and welcoming aura, allowing the user to explore and avoid being overwhelmed by information.
WordPress is utilized as a content management system (CMS) to allow user-friend alteration of textual content, and add featured projects periodically. Taking advantage of some of lesser known features in advanced ways allows us to better utilize the power of WordPress as a CMS, and have multiple blocks of different information on each page, all linked together in a single interface in the administrative backend. Keeping content managed by the CMS versus hard coded into each page as a separate HTML document, allows greater flexibility, easier modification, and the ability more easily migrate content to new site designs in the future.
